Electrogenic sodium pump in mouse liver parenchymal cells.

چکیده
Readmitting potassium to potassium-deprived mouse liver segments during intracellular microelectrode recording caused an increase in membrane potential and a gradual reduction in amplitude of electrotonic potentials set up by current pulses applied to another liver cell some distance away. Readmitting K in a high concentration (100 m.M) caused a transient hyperpolarization followed by depolarization. The transient hyperpolarization was abolished by Strophanthin-G.

Isolation and Phenotyping of Normal Mouse Liver Dendritic Cells by an Improved Method
Introduction Dendritic cells (DCs) are bone marrow-derived cells, which migrate to lymphoid and non-lymphoid organs via blood. Liver DCs are believed to play an important role in the regulation of hepatic allograft acceptance. However, because of inherent difficulties in isolating adequate numbers of DCs from liver, limited information is available on the phenotype and functions of liver DCs. ...
متن کاملIs the Second Sodium Pump Electrogenic?
Transepithelial sodium transport is a process that involves active Na(+) transport at the basolateral membrane of the epithelial cell. This process is mediated by the Na(+)/K(+) pump, which exchanges 3 internal Na(+) by 2 external K(+) inducing a net charge movement and the second Na(+) pump, which transports Na(+) accompanied by Cl(-) and water. It has been suggested that this pump could also ...
متن کاملThe reversal potential for an electrogenic sodium pump: a method for determining the free energy of ATP breakdown?
where V t and Vb are the velocities of the forward and back reactions respectively, and R and T have their usual meanings. As AGdis corresponds to the amount of free energy available from ATP not conserved as free energy in the transported ions, knowledge of the transmembrane ionic free energy differences would allow calculation of the total free energy available from ATP. Two shortcomings of t...
متن کاملCa(2+)-induced inhibition of sodium pump: effects on energetic metabolism of mouse diaphragm tissue.
Tissues of mouse diaphragms were incubated in Liley solution containing 2, 4, 6 and 10 mmol/l calcium. When diaphragm tissue was incubated in 10 mmol/l calcium, an increase of intracellular calcium concentration from 314 +/- 28 to 637 +/- 26 nmol/l was estimated by fluorescent Ca2+ indicator Fura-2/AM. Moreover, incubation of the tissue in 10 mmol/l Ca2+ led to complete inhibition of electrogen...
متن کاملIncrease in electrogenic membrane potential with washing of corn root tissue.
Washing of corn root tissue increases the electrical potential difference, negative inside, across the membranes of epidermal cells. There is no lag period in the development of the extra potential, and the entire increase is electrogenic as evidenced by collapse with the uncoupler, (p-trifluoromethoxy)-carbonyl cyanide-phenylhydrazone.Proton extrusion by the tissue declines with washing but ca...
